Back in ancient times, people had to hunt in the wild for their dinner, but it’s a skill that has almost died out over time. However, foraging is undergoing a revival and those staying in New Forest cottages have the chance to learn how to find food right here in the wild British countryside.
The Countryside Education Trust is holding a fun and educational event on 5th August from 10am-5pm which allows nature lovers to scour the New Forest for edible goodies which they will later cook and eat!
After a 2-hour walk through the beautiful forest, in which visitors will be shown what foods are tasty and safe to eat, there will be a campfire to relax around whilst a professional chef will create a menu of 8-10 delicious dishes using the foraged treats. As well as finding edible food there will also be an opportunity to make teas and other herbal remedies from the natural surroundings.
For a day of fascinating, delicious fun, tickets are £25 per person and should be booked in advance on 01590 612401.
