A land project near Devizes has been given £10,000 towards its preservation, good news for the conservation group looking after the project and for visitors to the area who will both benefit from improvements made to the area.
Drew's Pond Wood is a beautiful area of land just outside Devizes, one which has previously benefited from a little renovation by the Drew's Pond Wood Project. The group has already been working hard on the neglected area of woodland that was on the grounds of the former Roundway Hospital and are well on their way towards making it a great area for public use.
The Drew's Pond Wood Project are aiming to raise £22,000 to buy the neighbouring disused cricket pitch and orchard, preserving it for public use by locals and those staying in Wiltshire cottages whilst enjoying a holiday in the area. The local nature reserve will soon become an even better place to enjoy a walk in the countryside, with even more paths and picnic areas due to be added soon.
