There’s so much going on in Wiltshire this summer, we can’t wait to get out and about and visit...
The summer holidays may be coming to an end, but there’s still plenty to see and do when staying in holiday cottages in Dorset during September. Whether you wish to admire Dorset’s wonderful wildlife or treat yourself to some of the finest local delicacies, you’re sure to find something to keep you occupied.
Come along and see all that Dorset has to offer at one of the county’s biggest events this year. Boasting over 2,000 animals, 500 trade stands and 90 food stands, you’ll be able to experience some of Dorset’s finest offerings, which includes prize farm animals, delicious food and drink and a variety of displays, ranging from falconry to show jumping. A highlight of this year’s event is a performance by Bolddog Lings Motorbike Stunt Team, which recently appeared on Britain’s Got Talent. The event is being hosted on the 6th and 7th of September in Dorchester and, what’s more, under 16s go free! Check out the official website for more details.
Taking place at Durlston Country Park and National Nature Reserve from the 4th September to the 14th, this wildlife-focused event is perfect for animal lovers, as well as keen birdwatchers. At just £3 per walk, unless otherwise stated, you can enjoy talks from experts showcasing the fascinating range of birds which can be found in the park and surrounding area. Marvel at them in their natural habitat, in a range of locations from Brownsea Island to Bournemouth, and join those with fellow interests. Just make sure to bring your binoculars!
Often described as ‘the Best Garden Party in the West’, the Sturminster Newton Cheese Festival is one of the best events in the county’s calendar. The town has a 100-year-old tradition of cheese making and the event itself has been running for more than 15 years, making this a haven for those with a taste for cheese. The event, which takes place on the 13th and 14th of September, has over 70 food stalls, as well as a real ale tent, local ciders and wine bar, so you’ll be perfectly placed to eat and drink to your heart’s content. Why not purchase a variety of South West cheeses as souvenirs for your relatives at home, or instead take some back to your Hideaways holiday cottage?
