There’s so much going on in Wiltshire this summer, we can’t wait to get out and about and visit...
After waving goodbye to winter and welcoming spring with open arms, the early bouts of sunshine make escaping on a Dorset cottage holiday a very welcoming prospect. Any one of our English country cottages offers the perfect sense of peace and tranquillity to return to after a long day of exploring, and this cluster of April events are some of the features available to those keen on doing so during a holiday in Dorset.
National Children’s Orchestras at the Lighthouse Theatre
For fans of classical music, this performance from some of the brightest starlets in the UK is one not to be missed. All the musicians are aged 14 and under and audiences can enjoy performances of Holst’s The Perfect Fool, Tales of Vienna Woods by Strauss and La Mer by Debussy. The show will take place at the Lighthouse Theatre in Poole from 7pm, with tickets available from just £5 for under-16s. For more information or to book your tickets, visit the venue’s official website.
Powerstock Cider Festival
The Powerstock Cider Festival offers a chance to taste the local atmosphere – as well as the superb produce from the region and beyond. With over 20 local cider crafters as well as a host of food producers attending the festival, there is sure to be something to tantalise all taste buds. Held in the village of Powerstock near Bridport on 26 April, tickets will become available in the coming weeks and are likely to sell out very quickly.
Portland Fish & Ships
Buying a boat is probably the last thing you would expect to do during your stay in one of our Dorset holiday cottages, but that’s exactly what is on offer at the Portland Fish & Ships. A free event for all, it takes over the marina on the isle on 12 & 13 April and the packed programme means there is plenty of fun to be had by all. From kayaking, kitesurfing and dive demos, to the chance to make your own sausages, it’s a festival which could easily become a highlight during your getaway to the coast.
