Dorset’s Weymouth Beach has been named as the UK’s number one beach, it has been revealed by TripAdvisor.
Being awarded the best British beach is a huge compliment for the area, but it also managed to beat some of the Mediterranean’s finest sandy shores as it came ninth in Europe’s top 10.

The results were determined based on the review ratings on the TripAdvisor website, compiling the quality and quantity of them.

The list though does focus on the beaches that are used by tourists visiting the areas in question, and it should be noted that there are a number of significant absentees from the list.
