Cycle Wiltshire takes place this weekend

The Cycle Wiltshire Grand Prix event is taking place this weekend and is expected to draw a huge crowd to the area, both in support and competition.

The event, taking place on Sunday 10th May, is part of the top tier of the British Cycling calendar and will therefore see an elite group of athletes in attendance. Cycle Wiltshire events often see a huge audience after the success of the recent Tour de France and Tour of Britain events and their public popularity.

Many self-catering Wiltshire holiday cottages and accommodation in the surrounding area are sure to be booked up, so it is advised to check for late deals as soon as possible if you want to catch a spoke of the action.

Two events

In addition to the Grand Prix, there will also be the Cycle Wiltshire Sportive event taking place on the 9th May as a part of the Elite Road Series, where cyclists of every level will be able to get involved. The Sportive event proved a great success last year and with three different route lengths at 20, 64 and 100 miles there is no excuse not to get on your bike.

For those who would rather watch, the routes for both races offer plenty of opportunity to see the action live. For a preview of what’s in store for spectators and competitors, take a look at the below video for a brief look at the highlights of last year’s Grand Prix.

Both events are sure to be a fantastic watch for all the family, so in the words of Cycle Wiltshire, ‘why not make a weekend of it’ and browse our English holiday cottage availability for the weekend ahead? Wiltshire is a beautiful area to visit at any time of year with plenty of attractions to keep the family well entertained, so a weekend in the county is sure to be time well spent, whether or not you’re a fan of cycling.
