Wiltshire sports clubs benefit from significant cash boost

Sports clubs all across Wiltshire celebrated receiving a cash boost of over £200,000 recently, which will be used to boost their facilities.

It is fantastic news for the region, meaning ultimately that those benefitting can enhance the sporting activities they offer to locals as well as those holidaying in one of the nearby country cottages in Wiltshire.

A popular destination for those longing for a holiday in the countryside, the outstanding rural views and range of activities mean that a break in Wiltshire can appeal to all members of the family.

The monies have been granted as part of the £17 million Inspired Facilities Fund, a project that is designed to help grass roots organisations enhance the level of activities and sports they offer.

Devizes Canoe Club to make use of £50,000

Among those who have benefitted from the funding include the Devizes Canoe Club, with £50,000 going towards the development of new changing facilities, canoe access and boat storage, as well as the renovation of their current building into a clubhouse.

Another organisation being aided under the plans is the Wootton Bassett Tennis Club, with the £50,000 being put towards relocation to a new site.

The money will also be used to enhance the sporting action on offer to holidaymakers throughout the year, with the £28,765 given to Corsham Cricket Club thought to be used to improve the level of safety between the club and the neighbouring town bowls club.

Royal Wootton Bassett RFC also receive £30,000 from the grant, money which will be used to enhance the visitor experience as well as upgrading the changing facilities at their Ballards Ash base.

If you are looking forward to exploring the wonders of Wiltshire during an upcoming country cottage break, why not come along to one of the benefitting organisations and see if you can enjoy some great activities during your stay?
