Visitor guides launched in Hampshire hotspots

A series of new tourism guides are set to be launched in parts of Hampshire, an initiative which is hoped will lead to an increase in tourism across the county.

Already a hugely popular destination for countryside cottage holidays thanks to assets such as the New Forest, Hampshire is a great location to enjoy a rural getaway full of peace and relaxation.

The pocket guides are 24 pages long and have so far been produced for visitors to the town of Bishops Waltham and the village of Wickham. As well as offering information on the variety of attractions and places of interest, the guides will also provide a brief history as a means to further enhance the visitor experience.

The production of the guides has been coordinated by Heidi Isa, Winchester City Council’s market town development officer, together with support from the Visit Winchester team. The guides showcase all the best assets of Bishops Waltham and Wickham, helping visitors to make the most of their stay as a result.

Proactive attitude displayed by communities

Cllr Robert Humbly, leader of Winchester City Council, was one of many who expressed their delight in the initiative, applauding both communities for their proactive attitude towards boosting local tourism.

The guides are now available from the Winchester Tourist Information Centre, as well as cafes and shops in both Bishops Waltham and Wickham.

If you are already looking forward to staying in a holiday cottage in the New Forest or in the surrounding Hampshire area in the coming months, be sure to drop into the local tourist information centre and pick up one of these fantastic guides.
