The evenings are getting darker and the nights are getting chillier which means that it is nearly time for Halloween! There is plenty to do near holiday cottages in the Forest of Dean this Halloween and here are just a few suggestions.
On Tuesday 30th October there will be the perfect opportunity to take part in some free Halloween fun: Halloween Storytelling for Children at The Forest Bookshop in Coleford. Admission is free for all so come along and settle down for an afternoon of spooky stories and terrifying tales! Join Ann and Ian in their Halloween adventure and dress up to really get into the spirit, and make sure to arrive before the starting time of 3.30pm to get a good seat.
For an event that is more for adult enjoyment, head to Harts Barn Cookery School in Longhope on Sunday 28th October from 1.30pm to 5pm and get ready for some Halloween cake-pop fun. Henrietta from Hetty’s Tea Party will be showing eager cake-fans how to make some delicious Ghoulish characters for a tasty Halloween celebration.
Hetty will be sharing her tips of the trade and will be providing all the ingredients and equipment that you will need; just bring a container to put your delicious cake-pop creations in. For £35, this afternoon looks like a fantastic way to celebrate the spookiest night of the year.
Lastly, for a Halloween event that gets the family out into the wild, why not head to the Halloween Owl Evening on Saturday 27th October? The International Centre for Birds of Prey begin their winter owl tours on the Halloween weekend, and from 7-9pm for £25 per adult and £12 per child, the whole family can see the owls at their most alert.
