The grounds of the historic Lainston House in Hampshire are set to host a large athletics event in 2015.
The Lainston House is more commonly visited by holidaymakers staying in Winchester holiday cottages, but on Sunday 22nd March the grounds of the manor house will play host to the Winchester duathlon.
Winchester duathlon organisers are expecting large numbers of people to attend next year’s event due to it being held at the stunning Lainston House.
Scenic routes planned for entrants
The TryTri Winchester duathlon will offer three different types of races; the novice race, the standard race and the sprint race, which are all different distances.
The novice race involves a 2.5km run, a 7.5km bike ride and another 2.5km run. The sprint race, however, involves a 5km run, a 20.5km bike ride and a 5km run, whilst the standard duathlon race will see participants do a 10km run, a 41km bike ride and a further 5km run.
The running legs of the race will loop around the stunning grounds of the house and the bike race will take participants and supporters through the surrounding countryside. The last run will then take participants back to the grounds of Lainston House and finish in front of the magnificent property.
There will also be a BBQ for visitors to tuck into as well as a show from a local falconer, who will be bringing all of his birds of prey to keep crowds of spectators entertained during and after the race.
Organisers have revealed that interest for the event is high and are advising anyone thinking of participating to get their entry forms in as soon as possible, while visitors have been advised to book holiday cottages to rent in Hampshire and other accommodation well in advance.
Organiser Chris Rees, of TryTri Events, told the Hampshire Chronicle, “It offers a perfect place for a fun event which is shaping up to be another fantastic competition in our calendar for 2015.”
