Leading review website TripAdvisor recently released a list of the top 25 beaches in the UK and Europe, based on comments and ratings left by the public.
In the list of the top 25 beaches in the UK, Dorset featured three times, with all of them placing in the top ten. Weymouth Beach missed out marginally from the top spot, and was only beaten by Woolacombe Beach in North Devon, which managed to make the list of the top 25 beaches in the world. Hengistbury Head in Bournemouth came in ninth position, followed closely by Sandbanks in Poole at number ten. Cornwall was the only other county which managed to secure three of its beaches in the top ten, which included Porthminster Beach in St Ives, Perranporth Beach and Fistral Beach in Newquay.
Dorset is home to the UK and Europe’s best beaches
Weymouth Beach was also deemed worthy of featuring in the top ten beaches in Europe and was just one of two beaches from the UK that placed in the list. This means that Weymouth Beach features in a list alongside other popular holiday destinations such as Italy, Spain, Greece, Turkey and Cyprus, making it a great place to visit during Dorset cottage holidays with family and friends.
Tourists have deemed Weymouth Beach as one of the best in both the UK and Europe due to its three-mile stretch of golden sands and clean waters, which are surrounded by superb facilities and entertainment. The other two beaches to be listed in the prestigious UK list are Hengistbury Head in Bournemouth, which is a pebble beach lined with colourful beach huts, renowned for its wildlife, while Sandbanks in Poole boasts white sands and turquoise sea, making it an extremely popular location with the rich and famous.
