One of the biggest festivals in Bath’s calendar will be starting today and running until 22nd September: the Jane Austen Festival.
The event celebrates the life of one of the country’s greatest authors, who had such a connection with the city of Bath that she used it as a setting for some of her novels. This will be the 12th year of the festival and promises to be the biggest ever with a total of 67 events this time.
Those staying in English country cottages will certainly want to head to Bath during the next week for some of these scheduled events. Back by popular demand is the Regency Costumed Masked Ball which is being held in the architecturally stunning Pump Room. This is the ultimate trip back into the high society of Jane Austen’s novels.
Walking tours around Bath will also be frequently run, formal dancing lessons, theatre productions, talks from professional actors and, of course, the Grand Regency Costumed Promenade will see over 500 people don their regency finery once again to open the festival.
