Record wet weather has scuppered a number of local festivals over the last few months, with sporting contests and days out in the stunning Devon countryside also hindered or falling casualty to the miserable rain.
But, at last, forecasters are predicting sunnier times for Britain, reporting warmer and brighter weather as early as next week, although we still have a few more days of rain to navigate past before we whip out the barbecues.
The recent glut of wet weather has been down to low pressure created by the unusually southerly location of the jet stream. But meteorologists believe the jet stream is on its way back north, creating high pressure and returning Britain to a normal summer at last.
It is great news for the thousands of holidaymakers who journey to the county every summer for a brilliant British break. Come and enjoy a stay in some holiday cottages in Devon over the next few months and catch the best remaining months of the UK sun.
