Great care has gone into the conversion of this former coach house, which is situated in the garden of a larger house in the village of Okeford Fitzpaine. Lying in the Stour Valley beneath Bulbarrow Hill, (900ft) from where there are magnificent views across several counties, this part of Dorset offers excellent opportunities for walking and cycling.
A beautiful stretch of the South Dorset heritage coastline from Poole to Portland Bill is within easy driving distance and there is an abundance of visitor attractions in the area to suit all tastes and pockets, including Bovington Tank Museum, Monkey World, Tower Park leisure complex, Hardy's Cottage, Corfe Castle and Kingston Lacey (all National Trust). The Georgian market town of Blandford is 6 miles, whilst Okeford Fitzpaine has its own village stores and pub. There are also a number of country pubs in the surrounding villages, which are well worth a visit.
The interior of the Garden House has been very tastefully decorated, considerable care being taken through the furnishings, lighting and colour schemes to bring out the building's original character. This is combined with good amenities, including underfloor heating, making this a very comfortable base to return to after a busy day's sightseeing.
Comments from previous visitors to The Garden House.
"This is an exceptionally comfortable, well equipped cottage with a very warm welcome. We will hope to stay there again." Mrs Glentworth, January 2008.
