Elephant Cottage (so called because, bizarrely, an elephant was once housed in it!) has been converted from a former farm building to a quite exceptional standard. Set close beside an active dairy farm with pedigree herd and in attractive rolling countryside, this timber framed Herefordshire cottage is very well placed for exploring the surrounding area with its network of footpaths and wide range of places of interest. These include the cathedral cities of Hereford and Worcester, and the market towns of Ledbury, Ludlow and Leominster, whilst the Cotswolds, Malvern Hills, Wye Valley and Forest of Dean are all less than an hour away. The owner can also offer woodland walks on his farm, stabling, if you bring your own horse, and coarse fishing (three carp ponds - see additional pictures) by arrangement. The local town of Bromyard (approx. 5 mins. drive) offers a good range of facilities, as well as acting as host to an increasing range of festivals.

The owners of Elephant Cottage have successfully achieved every modern comfort whilst retaining as much as possible of the original structure, including a wealth of ancient timberwork - even a small section of wattle and daub. The overall effect is of an enchanting cottage brimming over with character. Elephant Cottage has a Visit Britain 4 Star grading.

NB Elephant Cottage and H185 Wicton Farm Cottage are within a mile of each other and large parties might want to book both together.

Accommodation

Access via a solid oak stable door to small hallway with coats cupboard, open to sitting room with decorative fireplace, high quality furnishings and colour TV. Very well-equipped, beautifully fitted kitchen area (solid oak units with built-in appliances) divided by a low wall from dining area. Utility cupboard. Downstairs wc. Upstairs: landing area with space for cot. Bedroom with linked beds offering a choice of 6' double or twin beds under a half tester canopy; 2nd colour T.V. Well-appointed internal shower room/wc with enclosed shower and large Victorian style basin.

Garden (fenced) with gravelled, paved and lawned areas. Barbecue.
