Situated on the edge of this West Wiltshire country town but within walking distance of the town centre, this stylish property comprises approx. one third (see exterior picture) of a recently converted, imposing, town house in the Victorian Gothic style.

The house provides a very convenient, central base for exploring this part of southern England. The Georgian spa town of Bath, (now a world heritage site), the cathedral city of Salisbury, Longleat, home of the Marquess of Bath, the fine, landscaped gardens of Stourhead (National Trust) and prehistoric Stonehenge are all within 45 minutes' drive, while the South Dorset coast is approx. one hour away.

Warminster itself provides a good local shopping centre with main line train station to Waterloo and is also home to the West Wilts, 18 hole golf course.

Downside House retains some of its original character (high ceilings and ornate plaster cornices) combined with a very high degree of comfort - the owners have tried to think of everything visitors could wish for. Wireless Broadband Internet access is provided as well as Cable TV. Each bedroom has its own TV & video and there is private parking immediately outside the house.

Front entrance into small lobby or rear entrance from the car park via a lockable gate into a very light, fully fitted kitchen under a glazed (diffused light), vented, canopy roof. Gothic archway to a sitting room with dining area and attractive, dressed stone, open fireplace incorporating a wood burner. Carpeted stairs to 1st floor double bedroom. Bathroom/wc with hand shower attachment to the bath and separate shower cubicle. Stairs to 2nd floor and very attractive twin bedroom under the eaves with original, exposed timber work.
