Visitor attractions in this attractive part of Hampshire are numerous and there are several rewarding Hampshire village "trails" to follow, associated with famous literary figures and writers; Chawton and Steventon for Jane Austen, Selborne for Gilbert White and the Meon and Itchen Valleys for Isaac Walton. The Vyne and Hinton Ampner are impressive stately homes and for "steam" enthusiasts the Watercress railway line runs from Alton to Arlesford.
