The Old Bakery has 17th century origins and has been carefully refurbished with further enhancements by its new local owners. The cottage retains much of its original character whilst providing very comfortable and attractive accommodation. Situated in the main street of the small, attractive village of Clearwell, it is a short walk from pubs/restaurants and is also very well-positioned for the many and varied attractions The Forest Of Dean and Wye Valley have to offer, including the historic iron mines at Clearwell Caves, just up the road, and a mile away, Puzzlewood (featured in "Dr Who" and "Merlin").

This part of the Forest has some of its most attractive woodland areas with superb walking, cycling and riding; detailed maps & guides are provided by the owners. For railway enthusiasts the steam train from Lydney to Parkend is a `must`: there is fishing and canoeing on the Wye not far away, and a wide range of places of interest to visit within easy driving distance, including the Welsh border castles, Offa's Dyke path, Tintern Abbey, Symonds Yat, "Go Ape", Gloucester Cathedral and Chepstow (castle and racecourse). The Dean Heritage Centre is also well worth a visit.
