| The owner of Springvale Cottage has taken enormous care over the refurbishment of this recently acquired period, Edwardian cottage. Furnishings are high quality (Edwardian mahogany dining table, French 'empire' double bed) and there are some special extra touches, (e.g. a dinner service for special occasions) combined with the modern conveniences you would expect to find in high quality accommodation.
Springvale Cottage is the right hand cottage of the middle pair shown in the exterior picture and is situated very close to the village of Ashurst Wood. The secluded rear garden has restful views across to neighbouring woodland, part of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
This part of East Sussex has a wealth of attractions for the visitor. The cottage is only a 10-15 minute drive from the Ashdown Forest (setting for A.A. Milne's Winnie the Pooh) offering good opportunities for walking, cycling and riding, about 30-45 minutes from a large stretch of the Sussex coastline between Brighton and Eastbourne and within easy driving distance of a number of historic castles and stately homes, notably Hever Castle, Penhurst Place and Chartwell. There is also easy road and/or rail access from East Grinstead to London and Gatwick Airport. The immediate surrounding area boasts picturesque villages with good dining pubs as well as the nearby historic towns of East Grinstead (2 miles) and Royal Tunbridge Wells (14 miles). Other attractions include the Bluebell Line steam railway and horse racing at Lingfield.
