Scarlett`s Barn is one of a particularly fine group of outbuildings, the only one converted for occupation. Set in beautifully maintained gardens, and surrounded by stunning countryside it affords spectacular rural views. This is the epitome of "off the beaten track" and offers peace and tranquility to those seeking a retreat from hectic city lifestyles.
This little known region on the Devon /Cornwall border is full of interest. Dartmoor with its rugged tors and beautiful rivers and coombes is almost on the doorstep (don`t miss nearby Lydford Gorge), and the North Cornish coast (Tintagel, Boscastle and the best surfing beaches) is less than an hour`s drive.
Communications from here are excellent via the A30, a few miles away; Launceston (ancient castle and Steam Railway), Tavistock (good shopping) and Roadford Lake Reservoir (sailing, canoeing and trout fishing) are nearby, while historic Plymouth (Barbican, Mayflower Steps and famous Hoe), Exeter (cathedral city with Roman remains and new shopping centre) and National Trust houses such as Castle Drogo, Saltram and Cotehele can all be easily reached. The nearest village, Lifton, is famous for the Arundel Arms (fishing hotel/pub with excellent restaurant) and the large Boxing Day meet – a big local occasion.

Accommodation
Light and comfortable, Scarlett`s Barn has been carefully converted to a very high standard, its shutters giving it a slightly continental feel. Its peaceful and private setting in lovely grounds makes it a perfect place to return to at the end of a busy day exploring this interesting and beautiful region.
Double (glass) entrance doors into slate-floored, open plan living space. Kitchen/dining area with fully fitted units and solid wood dining table. Sitting area with "woodburner-look-a-like" Calor gas stove and comfortable seating. French windows to patio/garden. Downstairs cloakroom with basin/wc. Stairs to long landing. Two bedrooms, one double, one twin. Bathroom/wc with separate shower over bath and heated towel rail.
Outside: patio with garden furniture and barbecue, and well maintained lawns with fine views.
