Approached via a short, fairly steep metalled lane from the road below, Pelham Cottage is attractively positioned on a bluff with fine views of the River Wye flowing through the valley immediately below, and of the rising hills beyond. The cottage is just outside the village of Lower Lydbrook (shop and PO) and there are pubs and a restaurant within walking distance. The wide variety of attractions of the Forest of Dean and surrounding area are easily accessible: Tintern Abbey, Symonds Yat, Chepstow and Monmouth Castles are an easy drive, as are the cathedral cities of Gloucester and Hereford . Those keen on outdoor pursuits have an almost limitless choice; this is tremendous walking and cycling country, with fishing and canoeing on the Wye available nearby.
From the front windows, Pelham Cottage has something of the feel of an eagle`s eyrie: at the rear a large conservatory leads to an exceptionally tranquil garden, and above the property on the steep hillside is a small, private wood with paths and resting areas - a really attractive feature. Inside, there is a definite `cottage` feel - cosy and comfortable - with an unexpectedly large (and luxurious!) bathroom, and a really bright, inviting conservatory/dining room at the back. All in all, Pelham Cottage is a very relaxing base for exploring this lovely part of the world.
Comments from previous visitors
"I have just returned from a fantastic week at Pelham Cottage in The Wye Valley. This cottage is outstanding, peaceful, close to the village, very homely and well equipped. A beautiful and relaxing base from which to explore this wonderful area." Becky Johnson, December 2008.

Entrance into sitting room with open fire and view over river. Passage to well-fitted galley-type kitchen. Large bathroom/wc with spa bath (shower over bath) and bidet. Impressive conservatory, used as dining room, with doors to patio and garden at rear of house. Steep stairs from sitting room lead to two double bedrooms, one fairly large, both with basins and views over the river.
Secluded garden by the cottage with paved area, small, raised garden pond, barbecue and chiminea. Steep, 'stepped' path, with handrail most of the way, leads up to half an acre of wildflower woodland and 'look-out' bench affording superb views over the Wye and beyond. N.B. some steep drops - small children must be accompanied.
