Peacefully situated down a little used and virtually traffic-free 'no-through' country lane, Buttons Barn offers accommodation of a luxury standard in a very secluded, rural location, yet within easy reach of central London. Set in a quarter of an acre of garden by a shallow stream, it nestles in a tiny hamlet, on the boundary of the ancient Wadhurst Park, a 1000 acre estate where deer roam freely through the grounds and woodland - observe the autumn "rut" from the footpath, which runs through the estate.
The small enclave of Buttons was mentioned in the Domesday Book and the area has barely changed over centuries. Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it is a paradise for walkers with a number of easily accessible footpaths offering a choice of circular walks from two to twenty miles.
Visitor attractions in this beautiful part of Southern England, where East Sussex merges with Kent, are plentiful. Within 45 minutes' drive are Scotney Castle, Battle Abbey (site of the Battle of Hastings), Bodiam Castle, Batemans (home of Rudyard Kipling), the Bluebell Steam railway, Drusillas Wildlife Park, The Roman Baths & Pantiles at Tunbridge Wells, Sissinghurst Castle (beautiful garden), Leeds Castle, Hever Castle..... the list is endless. There are also interesting and varied activities to enjoy in the immediate surrounding area - cycling, sailing, canoeing & rock climbing at the Bewl Water Outdoor Centre, as well as golf (Ian Woosnam designed course) and coarse fishing (carp lakes) just a few minutes' drive away.
Nearby Wadhurst village, 5 minutes' drive from Buttons, provides for all local shopping needs with a good range of small, independently run shops.
