As you approach this cottage along a small country lane you are immediately struck by the peace and timelessness of this unspoilt Dorset hamlet with its scattered cottages and small farmsteads surrounded by green pastureland.

This is an ideal opportunity to leave the urban grind behind and take in some country air - the local village pub, which has a good reputation for excellent food, and the well stocked neighbouring shop are a short walk and the ancient towns of Sherborne (historic abbey and castles) and Shaftesbury (Saxon hilltop town famous for steep, cobbled Gold Hill) are 5 and 10 miles respectively. Further afield but still within a 30 mile radius is an abundance of visitor attractions – Stourhead with its world famous, landscaped gardens, the World Heritage city of Bath and the south Dorset “Jurassic” coastline are all a must for a day’s excursion.

One of four stone cottages, Gunville Cottage is “bijou”, beautifully decorated and furnished by its owner, providing a comfortable and relaxing base to return to after a busy day exploring the area.

Stable door entrance into sitting room with wood-burning stove and oak dining table. Archway through to fitted, galley kitchen with underfloor heating. Stairs from sitting room up to small landing area and two bedrooms – main bedroom with a 5ft double bed and the second with a 6 x 3ft ‘day bed’ and additional pull-out mattress for alternative sleeping. Bathroom/wc with electric shower above the bath.

Garden/sitting-out area in front of the cottage. Pot garden with attractive shrubs. Barbecue.
