Reputedly one of the oldest residential properties in Salisbury, this Grade II listed, terraced cottage (cream painted exterior in photo) is within easy walking distance of the Market Square, with its twice – weekly Charter Market, Cathedral Close – the largest in England – and the wide variety of shops, pubs, restaurants, arts and leisure facilities available in this ancient and historic city.

Salisbury’s premier attraction is of course its 13th century cathedral built in the Early English style and supporting the tallest spire in England. Also well worth a visit are Mompesson House (National Trust), the Medieval Hall and the Salisbury Museum. The city has a flourishing theatre – the Salisbury Playhouse – and hosts an annual international arts festival in May.

While Salisbury itself offers a wealth of visitor attractions, the surrounding area also boasts a huge range of sites to explore; top of the ‘not to be missed’ list are prehistoric Stonehenge, stately homes and gardens such as Wilton House, Longleat and Stourhead and the unique landscape of the New Forest National Park.

This ancient cottage still retains elements of its original character, particularly the centuries-old exposed timber framework and beams, and provides a very comfortable base, graded 4 stars by Visit Britain, for visitors wishing to explore this fascinating area.
