Grooms Cottage has been sensitively adapted from its previous use as an annexe to a well-known hotel and blends perfectly into its tranquil woodland setting. It is also admirably suited to being the venue for a large party renting the two cottages together, as Carriage House, in the building adjoining Groom's Cottage, has comfortable seating for up to 12 people.
Hidden away in a woodland clearing in the idyllic grounds of a private country house, the cottages are an oasis of complete peace on the south east edge of Dartmoor National Park.
The setting belies their easy access to the huge variety of attractions and amenities of this popular holiday area. The Moor itself offers walking, riding and fishing amid spectacular scenery, whilst unrivalled coastal attractions are less than an hour by road – beautiful cliff walks, hidden coves and exhilarating sailing in famous estuaries such as Salcombe and Newton Ferrers. The cities of Exeter and Plymouth are also easily reached, as are countless excellent restaurants and a particularly wide variety of places of historic interest, many of them National Trust properties such as Compton Castle, Killerton House, Cotehele (just over the border into Cornwall), and the very unusual and interesting Castle Drogo, right in the Moor itself.
A particular bonus for guests is that game fishing (salmon and sea trout) can be arranged on a private, productive and highly regarded stretch of the River Dart, which passes through the grounds. The outstandingly beautiful area of woodland and riverbank (an SSSI) below the cottages is also available for guests to walk and picnic in - a rare privilege.

Accommodation
Groom`s Cottage is very well equipped with a cosy sitting room, bright, comfortable bedrooms and an attractive private garden area.
Entrance into small hallway. Sitting room with woodburner. Dining room with circular table, and archway to fully fitted kitchen. Upstairs: 3 bedrooms - twin bedroom with en suite bathroom/wc, lobby giving access to master bedroom with double bed and smaller third bedroom with double bed (NB because of room size, suitable only for single occupancy). Bathroom/wc with bath, two basins and separate shower cubicle.
Outside there is a small terrace immediately in front of the cottage and a further grassed garden area just beyond the driveway.
