Situated right on the sea front in the ancient Cinque Port town of Hythe, 'Four Winds' (higher of the two balconies in exterior picture) is part of a small and very stylish residential development directly overlooking the beach and English Channel. Hythe town centre, with its mix of small independent shops, restaurants, wine bars and antique shops, is a few minutes’ drive away by car or a 10 minute walk via “Ladies Walk” and the Royal Military Canal.

This is an excellent base from which to explore this corner of southern England. Take a trip on the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch steam railway, which runs 13.5 miles to Dungeness Lighthouse or explore the long stretches of sandy beaches between Hythe and Winchelsea and the ancient Cinque Port of Rye, a short drive away across the Romney Marshes. Within easy reach too is Port Lympne Wild Animal Park and a wealth of historic castles and gardens such as Bodiam Castle, Scotney Castle, Battle Abbey, Great Dixter and Sissinghurst. The cathedral city of Canterbury, which has a good theatre, art galleries and an excellent shopping centre, is 17 miles and if you fancy a day trip to France, the Channel Tunnel entrance is just 4 miles away.

Hythe itself offers plenty of facilities and attractions – tennis, bowls and petanque at The Hythe Sports Pavilion, golf and swimming, sea fishing off the shingle beach, boating on the Royal Military Canal or cycling along the sea front to neighbouring Folkestone.
