For railway enthusiasts the steam train from Lydney to Parkend is a `must`: there is fishing and canoeing on the Wye not far away, and a wide range of places of interest to visit within easy driving distance, including the Welsh border castles,Tintern Abbey, Symonds Yat, Gloucester Cathedral and Chepstow (castle and racecourse). The Dean Heritage Centre is also well worth a visit.
