Fisherman`s Flat forms a completely self-contained part of the `big house` (right hand end in the main exterior picture), until recently a well-known hotel and now a private residence. It enjoys the same idyllic setting as Garden Cottage, Groom`s Cottage and Carriage House, an oasis of complete peace on the south east edge of Dartmoor National Park.

The setting of these properties belies their easy access to the huge variety of attractions and amenities of this popular holiday area. The Moor itself offers walking, riding and fishing amid spectacular scenery, whilst unrivalled coastal attractions are less than an hour by road – beautiful cliff walks, hidden coves and exhilarating sailing in famous estuaries such as Salcombe and Newton Ferrers. The cities of Exeter and Plymouth are also easily reached, as are countless excellent restaurants and a particularly wide variety of places of historic interest, many of them National Trust properties such as Compton Castle, Killerton House, Cotehele (just over the border into Cornwall), and the very unusual and interesting Castle Drogo, right in the Moor itself.

A particular bonus for guests is that game fishing (salmon and sea trout) can be arranged on a private, productive and highly regarded stretch of the River Dart, which passes through the grounds. The outstandingly beautiful area of woodland and riverbank (an SSSI) below the properties is also available for guests to walk and picnic in - a rare privilege.

Fisherman`s Flat is a delightful haven. Recently renovated, it has all its accommodation on one level with its own driveway, parking and sitting-out area. It offers comfortable, well-equipped accommodation including an exceptionally large and bright kitchen/dining area with wonderful views over the lawns towards the river.

Entrance from parking area via wooden footbridge and door to attractive sitting room with fireplace containing a ‘woodburning effect’ electric fire. Large, fully fitted kitchen with dining area. Corridor to bedroom with zip & link bed offering choice of 6ft double or twin beds. En suite bathroom/wc with shower over bath.
