This charming Grade II listed Tudor cottage is one of a group of three terraced cottages, once owned by Richard Hathaway, a nephew of William Shakespeare. It is situated in the heart of this ancient town, a few minutes' level walk from most of its major features, which include the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, the Shakespeare Memorial Centre, Shakespeare's birthplace, The River Avon with its tow path walks and boating, and a good leisure centre. The centre of Stratford still boasts many timber framed Tudor buildings as well as some excellent shops and restaurants. Beyond Stratford, the beautiful scenery and villages of The Cotswolds and The Vale of Evesham are within easy driving distance.

The cottage is only a short walk from Stratford's main shopping centre yet, as far as traffic is concerned, is not on a busy thoroughfare. Ely Street is one of the original streets dating back to the Tudor era.

Inside, the main structure of the cottage is unchanged, with the original timber framework and a small twisty staircase still in evidence. The interior is also enhanced by an inglenook fireplace and flagstone floor in the sitting room and old oak floorboards upstairs. There is a more recent extension at the rear, providing a modern kitchen and bathroom.

The cottage has been completely redecorated by its current owners and provides a comfortable and tastefully furnished pied a terre for those wishing to visit this historic city.
