The Victorian farmhouse at Eastwater Farm lies in a hidden valley beneath Eggardon Hill (827 feet), a short walk from the small, unspoilt village of Powerstock, with its stone cottages and Norman church. Not surprisingly this part of south west Dorset is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; the surrounding countryside with its myriad of narrow country lanes, has steep sided valleys and offers far-reaching views from the hill tops to a beautiful stretch of the West Dorset World Heritage "Jurassic" coastline. There is a good sandy beach at Charmouth (10 miles) while Lyme Regis has rockpools to delight children and has long been popular with fossil collectors. West Bay (5 miles) is good for sea fishing off the pier and beach. There are numerous footpaths - inland & coastal - and several iron age forts (including Maiden Castle) to explore. For shopping, Bridport is 4 miles away and the county town of Dorchester is about 10 miles.

Eastwater Farmhouse stands on its own surrounded by farmland on which the owners' beef and dairy cattle graze. It affords complete privacy to its visitors yet it is only a short stroll to the village pub. Refurbished to a good standard, it retains some of its original character and provides a very comfortable, welcoming base from which to explore this beautiful area.

Comments from previous visitors

"Thank you for providing such a well equipped and presented comfortable home from home. It deserves the word 'hideaway'. The fox, badger and deer kept us company in the evenings. Loved Eggardon Hill." Mr Taylor, June 2009.

"Loved just sitting in the garden and watching deer, fox, buzzards and owls. Dogs loved beaches and walks. A little bit of heaven here." Mr & Mrs Fairey, September 2010.

"A lovely, well-kept cottage in a really peaceful location. No need to go far, just walk in any direction - beautiful." Mr & Mrs Agg, October 2010.
