EastcliffThe large sitting room has an open log fire and French windows leading out to the garden Eastcliff enjoys panoramic views over the Marshwood Vale towards the sea in the distance

The casual motorist passing through the tiny hamlet of Birdsmoorgate between Crewkerne and Lyme Regis would be completely unaware of what lay behind the wall and fencing beside the road. Through the unobtrusive garden gate is a secret world – a stone cottage set spectacularly on a scarp (hence the `cliff` in the name) with a completely private, semi-wild garden below, and a tremendous panorama across the owner`s own fields to the Marshwood Vale beyond, and eventually to the sea shining in the distance.

Many guests may well be content just to explore the hidden paths in the immediate garden, or take a picnic lunch down to the summerhouse by the bottom pond; but for those wishing to venture a little further, the cottage is ideally located for both the beautiful (and little-known) Dorset hinterland with its attractive and unusually-named villages and ancient sites (Maiden Castle and Eggardon Hill are both well worth a visit) – and of course the World Heritage South Dorset coast, which boasts wonderful beaches, cliff walks and fossils! Lyme Regis, famous for its long quay, The Cobb, is only about nine miles away; West Bay and Charmouth are a little further.

Eastcliff and Lilliput Lodge form part of the same property and can be booked individually, with each cottage affording complete privacy, or together, providing accommodation for up to 7 guests and a baby. The small outdoor heated swimming pool and hot tub, available during the summer months, are in Liliput's garden and are only available to guests at Eastcliff when a joint booking is made.
