The self-contained wing of an attractive 18th century farmhouse, Drover’s has been tastefully converted by its owners to a really high standard, thoroughly deserving its Visit Britain 4 stars Gold Award. Its location at the end of a no through road affords peace and tranquillity as well as direct access on foot to an ancient drove (hence its name) leading on to the Somerset Levels. The area has an abundance of wildlife and is a walker’s and birdwatcher’s paradise: indeed, the National Nature Reserve of Westhay Moor is four miles away. Cyclists are also welcome and bike storage is provided.

The nearby Mendip Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, contain many places of interest including Glastonbury Abbey and Tor, Wells Cathedral and the famous Cheddar Gorge. Clarks’ Village at Street is an extraordinary retail complex with around 90 shops offering a wide variety of items at discount prices, together with a number of restaurants.

Drover’s provides high-quality accommodation for up to three guests (plus baby) in tranquil surroundings and is a most attractive base for exploring this beautiful and interesting area.

Entrance from gravelled parking area into small, well-equipped kitchen. Door to full-height sitting room with woodburner, plenty of comfortable seating. Dining table for up to three guests. Downstairs shower room/wc with luxury walk-in shower and non-slip floor. Stairs from sitting room up to large, highly attractive, double height bedroom with exposed beams and zip & link beds offering a choice of super king-size double or twin beds.

Outside: private sitting-out area in newly planted orchard with barbecue as well as the use of a privately-situated field where guests can roam and admire the fine views. Bike storage provided for cyclists.
