Situated along a quiet lane in this small hamlet, Leys Cottage (white painted cottage in exterior picture) offers versatile accommodation, well suited to the needs of a family wishing to explore the many attractions that Dorset has to offer. This is the very heart of the county, an area of richly contrasting landscapes with a broad backbone of chalk hills affording sweeping views over the river valleys below. It is also the heart of Hardy country, many of the local landmarks being featured in his novels under alternative names. The Georgian market town of Blandford Forum is approx. 4 miles away while within easy driving distance to the south lies a beautiful stretch of the South Dorset, World Heritage coastline from Poole in the east, with its huge natural harbour, to Lyme Regis in the west where the houses cling to the hillside above its ancient harbour.
Built in 1820 with a flagstone floor in the sitting room, Leys Cottage has been completely refurbished by its present owners to provide accommodation, which offers a high degree of comfort and which is a mix of original features and a more contemporary style in the kitchen and bathroom. Surrounding the cottage, especially to the rear, is a good sized secluded garden with a wealth of shrubs and flower borders.
The cottage is above the lane and reached by steps leading up to the garden.
