Peacefully located by a large Green (cottage on right in exterior picture), Cottage-on-the-Green is well away from busy traffic yet only a few minutes' walk from Calne’s town centre. Grade II listed and tastefully modernised, it offers a very comfortable pied-a-terre from which to explore the many and diverse attractions in this part of Wiltshire. Within a 10 mile radius are the prehistoric monuments of Avebury Stone Circle, Silbury Hill & West Kennet Longbarrow, several “White Horses” carved out of chalk on the North Wiltshire Downs, the National Trust village of Lacock and the Kennet & Avon Canal – great for narrow boat trips. A little further away but still within easy driving distance are historic market towns – Marlborough, Devizes and Bradford-on-Avon, the Georgian city of Bath and the south Cotswolds with its many historic towns and villages - Cirencester, Castle Combe, Cheltenham, Tetbury, Badminton - to name but a few.

Calne itself has its fair share of ancient buildings a number of them situated round the picturesque Green and close to Calne’s 12th century church. The town also has a good range of shops, supermarkets, pubs and restaurants.

Built in the 1800’s, Cottage-on-the-Green stands next to the owner’s house. It is completely self-contained and has its own entrance at the front of the cottage. The owners have completely refurbished it to a very good standard so as to ensure maximum comfort for guests during their stay.

There is a small sitting-out area immediately in front of the cottage while The Green itself provides a wonderful space for picnics – picnic blankets provided by the owners.
