Situated in a very sheltered, secluded setting, half a mile from the nearest public road at the end of a long drive, Wivelscombe Cottage enjoys a very special creekside setting. Its south facing 1 1/2 acre garden, part of 12 acres of land, slopes down to Wivelscombe Lake, which then opens out to the River Lynher on its way to the Tamar Estuary.
There are superb views across the creek to Anthony House (National Trust) and from the garden there is a delightful walk along a footpath, which passes through woodland and continues around the creek, eventually leading to Saltash.
The nearest sandy beaches are at Whitsand Bay, while Looe and Polperro are an easy drive. There is an international golf course at St Mellion with country club facilities and a further golf and country club at nearby China Fleet. There is easy access to Plymouth with its famous Hoe and historic Barbican, to South Devon beaches, to The Dartmoor National Park and to The Eden Project using the A38 trunk road, which is 2 1/2 miles to the North of Elm Gate.
Dating from 1840, Wivelscombe Cottage is understood to be the former hunting lodge to the nearby estate. It is Grade II listed and features Gothic arched windows and vaulted ceilings. Attractively decorated and furnished, it also offers excellent facilities and is ideal for 2 families or for smaller parties, for whom reduced rates are available outside the peak weeks.

Comments from previous visitors to Wivelscombe Cottage.
"We've just returned from a wonderfully restorative week at Wivelscombe
Cottage and I would like to thank you for arranging everything so
swiftly and with such ease. You really saved our holiday. It was one
of the most beautiful cottages I've ever stayed in, and I've stayed in
many over the years. Thanks again." Lore Windemuth, February, 2008.
