| Right in the heart of the city of Plymouth, at the end of a narrow but driveable passage, lies a charming, hidden courtyard of two storey cottages, quiet and very private. Beautifully converted from part of a former brewery, this small development encloses an attractive pedestrian square accessed by a security gate. Despite its location the Mews is extraordinarily peaceful, yet many of the city's wide variety of attractions are a short walk away. Visit the Hoe, scene of Drake's famous game of bowls and gaze out at the marine activity in the Approaches. Take a 10 - 15 minute stroll through town and try one of the reasonably priced restaurants at the ancient Barbican from where The Mayflower sailed to North America in 1620. Wander round the antique shops or visit The National Marine Aquarium and Glassworks Centre. See the Maritime Museum, Crownhill Fort, King William Yard - the list is almost endless.
If you have any time left, the sandy beaches, rocky coves and yachting harbours of South Devon's beautiful coastline are within easy driving distance while Dartmoor rises just behind the city. The South Cornwall beaches and coves are a short drive via the Torpoint Ferry or Tamar Bridge and stately homes such as Saltram, Cotehele and Anthony House are all close by. |
