Standing in a forest clearing just outside the village of Yorkley, Chestnut Tree Cottage is one of a pair of forester`s cottages right on their own down a woodland track. The cottage provides a light and welcoming haven in this very attractive rural area and is ideally placed for exploring the surrounding countryside. There are lovely walks straight from the house including a nearby ridge with spectacular views across the top of the forest.
The whole of the Forest of Dean, with its interesting archaeological and industrial remains (don`t miss Clearwell caves), is all around, offering a wide range of activities including cycling along the specially laid out trails and steam train rides for enthusiasts on the Dean Forest Railway. Canoeing and fishing are available on both the Rivers Wye and Severn, and Offa`s Dyke Path has some lovely, easily accessible stretches. Symonds Yat Rock, which at 500ft commands spectacular views over several counties, and Tintern Abbey are both well worth a visit. Chepstow, the cathedral cities of Hereford and Gloucester, the Brecon Beacons and the Cotswolds are all within reasonable driving distance.
Graded 4 stars by Visit Britain, Chestnut Tree Cottage is a bright, comfortable and surprisingly spacious house, recently modernised, with an inviting private garden at the rear - and a magnificent pool table in the garage!

Door from small front garden into lobby, leading to large, light L-shaped living room. Dining area with views both sides of house. Sitting area with open fireplace incorporating a wood burner, French windows to rear garden and a PC with wireless internet access. Separate well equipped kitchen with large gas cooker and side door to garage/games room and parking area. Open tread stairs to light landing. Two double bedrooms, one with king size double bed and one with 4`6`` bed and very modern en suite shower room/wc. Two further single rooms with views. Family bathroom/wc with shower over bath.
Outside, there is a small front garden and a large, private, rear garden with decking, gravelled area and lawn. Garden furniture and triple gas barbecue. Garage with pool table. Lockable storage for bikes.
