Carraway Cottage
- Reference Number

- Location
- Marnhull, Dorset
- Sleeps
- 3 + cot

Situated down a very quiet and picturesque 'no through' lane, Carraway Cottage is on the edge of the small Dorset village of Marnhull, (known as Marlott in Hardy's novel Tess of the d'Urbervilles) in the heart of Dorset's Blackmore Vale. The area offers marvellous walks - the end of the lane leads on to a network of footpaths, part of 'The Hardy Way' - and the great chalk ridges of Hambledon, Bulbarrow Hill, Melbury Beacon and Win Green are all within easy driving distance.
The historic towns of Shaftesbury (6 miles) and Sherborne (12 miles) are both well worth a visit, while the Georgian market town of Blandford is 10 miles and the spectacular South Dorset coastline little more than a 30 minute drive. Other places of interest in the area include Kingston Lacy (N.T.) and the beautiful landscaped gardens at Stourhead.
Marnhull itself has two pubs, both mentioned in 'The Good Pub Guide', and several local shops. There are other highly recommended pubs and restaurants in the locality.
The owners of Carraway Cottage have taken enormous time and trouble in their restoration of the interior, combining carefully chosen fabrics and furnishings (including some antique pieces) with many of the modern comforts now expected in a holiday cottage.
