Cardew House AnnexeThe sitting room has a fireplace with woodburning stove and a gateleg dining table The magnificent view across the garden to Alresford Lake

Combining period style and charm with a high degree of comfort, the accommodation at Cardew House is part of a Grade II listed house, dating back to 1640.

The house is two minutes’ walk from the centre of the small, Georgian market town of Alresford (pronounced “Allsford”), with its highly attractive Georgian, colour washed buildings, historic streets and interesting range of specialist shops, pubs, restaurants and art galleries. Enjoy a stroll by the River Arle and ancient Old Alresford Pond or take the Watercress Line (carefully preserved steam railway) through the Hampshire countryside to Alton, 10 miles away. In May Alresford puts on its nationally acclaimed Watercress Festival and in high summer there’s opera at Grange Park.

Visitor attractions in the area are plentiful too - Winchester (7 miles away), ancient capital of Wessex with its Norman cathedral and medieval Great Hall, Chawton, home of the author, Jane Austen, and the beautiful Itchen and Meon valleys, which inspired Isaac Walton, “the father of angling”. A little further but still only about half an hour’s drive away is The New Forest National Park.
