The idyllic setting of this secluded retreat, hidden away in a secret valley at the end of a long driveway, would be hard to beat. This is a small well designed, stone and timber clad barn standing some 50 yards from the main house but still affording a good degree of privacy to its guests - a place to relax and unwind in a really peaceful setting with long views from the barn across the owners’ fields and woodland beyond. Guests can also enjoy a game of tennis on the owners’ hard court or even arrange some private clay pigeon shooting.
Situated some 4 miles to the north of the Saxon hilltop town of Shaftesbury, right on the borders of Dorset and Wiltshire, this area offers some of the finest and most unspoilt countryside in the south of England, with superb opportunities for walking and cycling and with a whole host of interesting places to visit - the World Heritage city of Bath and the cathedral Salisbury are both 45 minutes drive, the world-famous, National Trust gardens at Stourhead and the magical ruins of Old Wardour Castle are about 20 minutes and South Dorset’s magnificent Jurassic coastline is reachable in an hour.
Closer to home, the surrounding villages offer a wide choice of excellent pubs and eating houses while Shaftesbury provides for all local shopping needs.
