In complete contrast to its name (locally, ‘town’ means ‘place’), Abovetown nestles in its own beautiful and private, eleven acre coombe, surrounded by its own fields and woods. Only ten minutes’ drive from Lostwithiel, the house is perfectly positioned for visitors to enjoy this attractive and interesting part of South Cornwall. For walkers there are quiet footpaths, or the South West Coastal Path which passes though ancient towns and villages such as Looe and Polperro (approx. 5 miles) and Fowey (8 miles); and many sandy beaches are also within easy reach.

The whole region is full of historic and literary associations – Lostwithiel was once the county capital and the house Daphne Du Maurier wrote from is just the other side of the estuary. The National Trust property of Llanhydrock, the Eden Project near St. Austell and many fine gardens make interesting day excursions.

Extensively refurbished by its owners to a very high standard, Abovetown is a light and extremely attractive house with some exceptionally large rooms and is set in its own beautiful and private, eleven acre coombe – a wonderful place for a really relaxing holiday.
